Tessa Baan

Tessa is a recent graduate with an MA in American Studies and MSc in International Relations from Radboud University Nijmegen. Her research interests include diplomacy and multilateral institutions, EU policy-making processes, Transatlantic relations, sustainable development, and climate policy. Some of her educational and career highlights have been her exchange to Wilmington, North Carolina, writing a piece of policy advice for the youth think tank of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and being a delegate in the Model United Nations Delegation of United Netherlands. She is certain that many more highlights are coming in this exciting role as Editor-in-Chief, and she considers it a great privilege to work alongside people from all over Europe and beyond. In her free time, she likes to learn new languages, volunteer, play tennis and cook.
Elia Duran-Smith

Elia is a recent graduate of the MSc International Relations programme of the University of Glasgow, after obtaining her bachelor’s degree in History and French from University College Cork. She has joined the IGE academic team having gained experience as a reviewer of the Glasgow University-affiliated 3SJournal. Aside from her role at IGE, she also writes about human rights for Global Human Rights Defence and Yet Again, and is currently a delegate for the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons Youth Meeting of State Parties for Youth for TPNW.
Anna Warnaby

Anna Warnaby is currently an editing trainee at the Clear Language and Editing Unit of the European Parliament. Having grown up in Manchester and studied in London and Paris, she now resides in Luxembourg. Since completing an MA in Translation in 2018, she has worked as a freelance translator and subtitler, and has contributed to a number of online publications such as Café Babel and Untranslatable. Her interests lie in multilingualism and international relations, particularly EU-UK relations the impact of Brexit on identity. In her spare time, she enjoys learning languages, travelling and writing.
Ladan Kambi

Ladan Kambi is currently pursuing an MSc in Diplomacy, Politics and Trade. She also has an undergraduate degree in Politics and International Relations. Throughout the years, her interests in Sustainable Development and Developmental Politics have shaped her perspective and thus the experiences she has gained. She believes that awareness is key, having tried different avenues to achieve this: through writing content for various media outlets, as well as previously posting her blog content, so that she can personally ensure that individuals around her are well versed in political affairs, particularly issues that are not in the mainstream media. In addition to this, Ladan loves working on youth-led projects as she believes the next generation will tackle these many issues, so being at the forefront of this at the Institute of Greater Europe is an honour and a unique opportunity for her.

Weronika holds a master’s degree in Scandinavian Studies, as well as Journalism and Social Communication. Originally from Poland, she is currently based in Belgium, where she pursues the Doctoral Programme in Social Sciences (Communication and Media Studies) at KU Leuven and works as a Communication Officer. She combines experience in the private sector, academia and EU policies. Her research interests include online media, nation branding and migration topics. She has always been interested in editing, publishing processes and all steps involved in journals and books creation. When she isn’t writing or reading, she loves travelling and spending time in nature.

Angeliki Markopoulou is a third-year undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the department of International and European Studies, at the University of Piraeus, in Greece. She strives to advocate for the human rights, as well as sustainable development, through her volunteering work. Her main areas of interest revolve around EU’s external relations, international law and she’s very passionate about marketing and creating podcasts. Aside from the academic part of her life, she really enjoys to learn new languages.
Dan Ziebarth

Dan Ziebarth is a PhD Student in the Department of Political Science at George Washington University. He received a B.A. Summa Cum Laude in Political Science from Hamline University and an M.A. in Ethics & Society from Fordham University. His research is focused primarily on climate and environmental politics, migration policy, international law, and regional politics. In addition to his academic work, he regularly contributes to the online edition of New Europe, has written for The Brussels Times and EU Observer, and provided commentary for France 24.

Jack Lashendock

Jack Lashendock is a Second-Year graduate student at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy where he is pursuing his Master's of Arts in Law and Diplomacy in the fields of international security studies and multilateral diplomacy. He has spent time studying and conducting research in Israel, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, driven by a passion to understand the complexities of the world. At the Fletcher School, Jack was recently appointed as the Head Coach of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Team. Professionally, Jack has found success in public service, interning with elected officials in the US Senate, Massachusetts state government, the United States Army War College, and working for the US Department of Commerce to conduct the 2020 American Decennial Census. He is currently serving as a research assistant to support the United Nation’s Executive Office of the Secretary General’s project on the ‘Our Common Agenda’ report. Jack’s academic interests include multilateral diplomacy, peacekeeping, international organizations, and international law, as well as American government and history.

Elena Ruxandra Seniuc​

Elena Ruxandra Seniuc is an editor focusing on Central and Southern European Affairs of the Institute. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology from the University of Durham and is one of the recipients of the OSCE-UNODA Scholarship for Peace and Security. She was also part of the Romanian Government Internship Programme as an Intern in the Crime Prevention Directorate at the Ministry of Justice and has previously worked in the archive research sector. Her main interests include transnational and international crime, international security, frozen conflicts and conflict resolution with a focus on Post-Soviet States, Central Europe and the Balkans.

Dyuti Pandya is currently pursuing her master's in International Trade Law at Gujarat Maritime University, India Her main areas of interest and study are law and public policy, international relations, and diplomacy. Entering law school, her interests were shaped in international politics and foreign affairs, most specifically in understanding the scenarios of Asia, Europe, and the USA. She plans to continue her study in this field of academia and research in the near future. She currently serves as the academics coordinator for Students for Liberty South Asia, wherein she actively likes to engage others in creating an open and civil discourse of thoughts and ideas. In her free time, she likes to read and sketch.

Matteo Graziani
Chair of EU-Asia Pacific Studies

Matteo Graziani is an Italian graduate student based in Belgium. He obtained a Master’s degree in International Law at the University of Trento and he’s currently pursuing a Postgraduate Master’s program in European International Relations at the College of Europe in Bruges.
He specialized in East-Asian and Indo-Pacific affairs at the Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo and is currently taking part in the 2022 edition of the EU-ASEAN Young Leaders forum. He worked at the Embassy of Italy in London and contributed, as an analyst for Japan and Indo-Pacific, with the Italian geopolitical review “Il Caffè Geopolitico” in the summer of 2021. Matteo is passionate about international relations, development, security, and social issues analysis.
Antonio Meleca
Deputy Chair of EU-Asia Pacific Studies

Antonio Meleca, former contributor and current Deputy of the Institute’s Chair of EU-Asia/Pacific Studies, is a Toronto-born Italian-Canadian currently based in Rome. He obtained a bachelor’s degree in Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa at the University of Turin, writing his final dissertation at Saitama University in Japan. Currently, he is earning a master’s degree in International Relations and Institutions of Asia and Africa at the University of Naples L’Orientale. During his first year, he returned to Japan as an EU delegate with the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Youth Engagement MIRAI Program and won a year-long scholarship to study at Sophia University in Tokyo. Unfortunately, his time at Sophia was split in half due to the global pandemic. However, in between his two semesters with the prestigious Japanese university, he gained extensive professional experience; he interned with a European Commission-funded NGO in southern Italy, the United Nations Secretariat in New York, and is currently completing an internship with a UN agency in Rome, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). Additionally, he has recently joined the IFAD Youth Network, both as a board member and the communications team Co-Chair.
Antonio speaks English, Italian and Japanese and is passionate about international relations, sustainable development, human rights, and the inclusion of youth, women, and minorities in decision-making.
Rossemberg Maza

Rossemberg Maza holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Lancaster and is currently enrolled in the Diplomacy, Business, and Trade Master's program at Loughborough University London Campus. Born in Tabasco, Mexico his work primarily focuses on Development Economics. Particularly, the growth and development of the larger American continent. As chair of EU/America studies, Rossemberg oversees the creation of content pertaining to the wider American region (North, Central, South and Caribbean) and its importance and influence in Europe. ​
Catherine Carrey

Catherine is currently in the final stages of a degree in Communication Science at the University of the Republic, Uruguay. Her work focuses mainly on human rights, intercultural relations, social affairs, and international policy. Additionally, Catherine has journalism experience as well as experience working for global companies. As Vice-chair as well as for the future Catherine aspires to contribute significantly to international matters through her interest in Europe’s relationship with the Americas in areas such as politics, culture, education, and gender equality.

Ariel Toh

Ariel is a graduate in Accounting & Finance, with a major in Sustainable Energy Systems and Energy Policies. After studying at the Florence School of Regulation, Ariel continued to work in the public sector as a publication editor for research reports and assisting energy consortiums in international relations to sustainability transformation and climate adaptation strategies across Europe. Ariel interests include renewables, energy democracy, humans rights in relation to sustainable development, environmental policies, and socio-economic policies advocating sustainable development planning at Europe and vulnerable communities.

Olga graduated with an MA in Sustainable Heritage Management, having previously studied Human, Social and Political Sciences. During her Master’s she has been fascinated by developments in the heritage field (like efforts at decolonizing museums) that challenge accepted relationships to the past; moving away from a supposedly neutral historical stance, towards critical interrogation and social responsibility. Her particular interests lie in the intersection of cultural and natural heritage, and an integrated view that fosters a more sustainable engagement with our environment. Apart from reading and writing, Olga is quite crazy about bouldering and loves to meet new people.

Carlos is an editor focusing on EU-Americas affairs at the Institute. He holds a B.Sc. in International Relations from the University of Navarra in Spain and an LL.M. in International and EU Law from Riga Graduate School of Law in Latvia. Currently based in Belgium, Carlos works in the private sector where he specializes in international trade. Besides his native Spanish, he is fluent in English and German, with a basic knowledge of Russian. His main areas of interest include environmental and trade policies as well as EU-Americas relations at large. In his spare time, he enjoys learning languages and volunteering for local initiatives.
